Wayne Huff

Assistant Conductor

Wayne grew up in Payson and started playing in their community band with his family at a very young age. Over the years, he has played trumpet, baritone, tuba, flute, oboe and clarinet. For the past six years, he has conducted the Payson band, which has a 105-year tradition of Sunday night band concerts during the summer.

Wayne has been playing clarinet in the Murray Concert Band for about 19 years. He graduated from Weber State with a major in instrumental music and a minor in choral music, and later received his master’s degree in education from the University of Utah. After teaching music for 36 years in the Salt Lake School District, he retired in 2003. Wayne is married to the former Sharon Althouse from Springville, and they have one daughter and two grandsons.[/one_half_last]
